This concept that those presently in power shape the future in their image is a central tenet of decolonial theory. Ensuring the future of digital platforms is just and equitable requires the deconstruction of the biased models that got us to today.

I'm not an authority by any stretch, but this paper by Abeba Birhane is pertinent:

I am reading The End of Cognitive Empire by Boaventura Sousa Santos if you like books.

There isn't a material body of work on how this theory can be applied at scale to provoke positive societal change. I'm still looking.
